Through coursework, research experience, internships and psychology club, UNI psychology students gain a broad understanding of human psychological processes. Learn how the brain controls our actions, how memory and language influence our thoughts, how emotions guide actions, how other people influence us, and how we can use psychology to improve human functioning. The psychology major prepares students for careers in human services, health care, education, and business.
Most psychology courses will transfer to fulfill requirements for the major, either as content area requirements or electives.
BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
Psychology Club is an official student organization fostering communication between students and faculty, providing experiences and projects to increase knowledge of psychology and promote networking.
Students collaborate with a research team to collect and analyze data and present their research at our annual student research conference. In addition to dozens of student research projects, the conference features nationally-known guest speakers and panel discussions of post-graduation plans.
There are a variety of study abroad opportunities for psychology majors. Recent students have studied in Ireland, Spain, Costa Rica, Great Britain, and Taiwan, among other places.
