Math Teaching

Math Teaching

The University of Northern Iowa has a strong commitment to mathematics education. Students majoring in mathematics teaching will graduate with the confidence, skills and knowledge to teach the subject at the secondary level.

The program combines a broad education in mathematics with UNI’s outstanding educator preparation program. Students in this major will take a wide array of courses in mathematics, along with professional education courses and engage in student teaching experiences.

Teacher candidates who graduate from this program will be prepared to begin their career as secondary mathematics teachers and to contribute to the communities where they work.

With excellent faculty and hands-on field experience, graduates exceed state requirements to qualify for Iowa teaching licenses and secondary mathematics endorsements. Additionally, graduates earn a mathematics major, in addition to a major in secondary education.
